RESCUE OF 44 DOGS!

Organized by Last Chance Animal Rescue

DIRE EMERGENCY
We need to raise $20,000 to fight to save these animals and secure transport out of King William County, Virginia. We had made arrangements to take custody of 65 animals being held at the Regional Animal Shelter however it was revoked by the county today. Without financial resources we can not save these animals. Without your donations these souls WILL BE KILLED by lethal injection. All of these animals were rescued from high kill shelters, many of which euthanize using gas chambers and heart stick. To learn more about inhumane killing and you can help put an end to it visit http://takeactionnow.be/index.html Here's the sad story.... On November 2nd King William Animal Control in Virginia executed a warrant on a personal residence in reference to a report of animal cruelty. They arrived to find 79 animals living in some of the most deplorable conditions imaginable. After spending hours recovering animals from the home all were transported to the Regional Animal Shelter for veterinary care and evaluation. Regional Animal Shelter euthanized all of the animals in their care using lethal injection to "make room" for all of the animals seized. The residents of the home have been running a rescue operation called Dog Tags which supported a program to train animals as therapy animals to assist soldiers returning from active duty who might be suffering from post traumatic stress disorders or other injuries sustained while in service to our country. During the investigation some of the animals that were seized were identified as having been transferred to Dog Tags from high kill shelters as part of Middle Mutts, our shelter to rescue program. As a result of the hearing held on Nov 10th 65 of the animals were surrendered by Dog Tags to King William County, except for 14 which were registered service dogs and will be returned to Dog Tags in the coming week. Last Chance Animal Rescue has offered to take possession of all 65 remaining animals to work to place them in adoptive homes or with rescues authorized as registered transferring agencies in the state of Virginia. While these animals did not all originate through Middle Mutts, many coming from NYC and NJ groups, as an organization who rescues animals we feel that our responsibility is to ensure the safe placement of all of the victims in this situation. Our ability to assist in this situation will be directly affected by the resources that we have available and that is why we need your help with donations.
If you are an area rescue and a registered transferring agency in the state of Virginia or would like to adopt one of these animals please contact us at info@lcarescue.org or visit the Regional Animal Shelter
